Ready to explore deeper, stay underwater longer, and build the confidence to handle real‑world diving challenges? The Sports Diver qualification is your gateway to more adventurous diving and the skills that set experienced divers apart.

Why Become a Sports Diver?

As a Sports Diver, you’ll unlock the ability to complete longer, deeper dives—including those requiring decompression stops—while gaining essential rescue and emergency management skills. It’s the perfect next step if you already hold an entry‑level qualification and want to expand your underwater horizons.

What You’ll Learn

Throughout the course, you’ll develop the knowledge and confidence to dive safely in a wide range of open‑water conditions. Training includes:

  • Diving techniques that prepare you for depths of up to 40 metres

  • How to recognise and respond to problems underwater

  • Self‑rescue skills

  • Recovery of unresponsive divers

  • Basic life support

These are some of the most valuable and empowering skills any diver can acquire.

Course Structure

The Sports Diver qualification is continually assessed, ensuring you build competence at every stage. Your training includes:

  • Six theory modules

  • Two dry practical sessions

  • A sheltered‑water rescue skills session

  • Six open‑water dives

  • A short theory exam After this, you’ll complete a series of depth‑progression dives (in 5‑metre increments) to qualify you to dive to 40m.

Who Can Join?

To enrol, you must:

  • Be 12 years or older (14+ to progress beyond 20m after qualification)

  • Hold a BSAC Ocean Diver or Advanced Ocean Diver certification or an equivalent qualification from another recognised training agency
