BSAC Ocean Diver in as little as 1 week!

Once you qualify as a BSAC Ocean Diver, you’ll be able to dive with another Ocean Diver under the supervision of a Dive Manager, as long as you stay within the conditions and environments you’ve already experienced during your training.

If you’d like to broaden your horizons and explore new sites or more challenging conditions, you can do so simply by diving with a BSAC Dive Leader or a more experienced diver.

Your Ocean Diver certification is recognised worldwide. It also qualifies you to use breathing gas mixes of up to 36% Nitrox, giving you an extra level of safety and comfort on your dives — and you’ll learn everything you need to know about Nitrox during the course.

Training begins in our purpose-built swimming pool, where your instructor will help you get relaxed and confident breathing underwater. From there, you’ll build the skills you need to dive safely in open water. You’ll then join us for a minimum of four open-water dives to develop your confidence and put your new skills into practice.

During your Ocean Diver course, you will:

• Learn how to use essential scuba kit, including mask and snorkel

• Develop buoyancy control and smooth underwater movement

• Understand key safety principles such as time, depth and gas management

• Discover how to plan and manage your dives

The course includes six theory modules, at least five pool sessions, and a minimum of four open-water dives. Assessment is continuous throughout, and after your classroom learning, pool training and short theory exam, you’ll be ready to continue your scuba journey as a qualified Ocean Diver.

Who can join?

The BSAC Ocean Diver course is open to anyone aged 12 and above.

All you need is the ability to swim 200m comfortably in a pool — and the only kit required to get started is your swimsuit and a towel.
